5 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR PET DISEASE FREE

5 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR PET DISEASE FREE

Pets are excellent, and they can last a long time with the proper care. However, they are still living things that carry pathogens and other microscopic critters that can make them and you sick. These living things can be passed to humans, other animals, and the environment, so it is essential to keep them healthy. Pets are expensive, and it is vital to keep the costs down by giving them the proper care that will help prevent them from diseases. This blog post lists five ways you can keep your pet disease-free!

1. Get Routine Vet Visits
Routine vet visits are number one on the list because it is crucial. Attending the Mississauga Animal Hospital regularly can help detect problems before they become major. Routine checkups are also essential to keep your pet’s vaccines up-to-date and fight diseases better (like humans). Because pets can’t talk, you must visit the vet and ensure everything is going well.

2Use Preventative Medications
Because your pet cannot communicate with you, it is up to you to find out if there is a problem. It can be not easy with some pets, so preventative medications are often given. These medications can help ward off diseases and keep your pet healthy. These medicines include flea and tick protection, heartworm prevention, and vaccines, to name a few. It would be best if you always asked about these options at the veterinary mississauga because they may not be available at your local pet store.

3. Keep Up with Vaccinations
Vaccinations are vital to keeping your pet safe from diseases. Some vaccines your pet should get every year, while others only need to be given once. The importance of these vaccines cannot be stressed enough because they can save you and your pet from some severe threats. Be sure you take all the recommended vaccines by any proffessional veterinarians in mississauga, for your pets, and when it is time for boosters, make sure to get them!

4. Keep Pets Away from Wildlife
Pets have been known to get diseases from wildlife. Rabies has been a big concern for many years and is still prevalent today, as well as other diseases like canine distemper, parvovirus, canine coronavirus, and toxoplasmosis. It is essential to keep your pet away from wildlife because they can be carriers of diseases that can be dangerous. If you see a wild animal, take care not to approach it because it could have rabies.

5. Watch What Your Pet Eats
It is always essential to keep an eye on what your pets are feeding on. If you’re unsure whether food is good for animals, ask the vets in mississauga to help you with this. With other animals, it is essential to know that some animals can be carriers and could transfer diseases back to you. Contaminated food can also make pets ill, so it’s best to avoid foods made by foreign companies and stick with store-bought and store-brand foods.

It is vital to keep your pet’s health a priority. Your pet extends your family, and it is up to you to keep them safe and healthy. If they are not, they risk getting very sick, or worse!

Everyone at Truscott Animal Hospital shows love and compassion for our pets.
Recently when walking past with our dog Dr. Medwat came out to say hi the dog was so happy to see him. Her tail wagging a mile a minute jumping up to lick the doctor. If he didn't love animals the animals wouldn't love him.

Switched here from my other vet a few months ago and the staff has been nothing but remarkable. The doctors show how much they care for their patients and are very understanding. I took both my cats here, aged 15 years old and they were very well taken care of. My cat recently had a surgery here as well and the stitches look amazing. Her healing process is going great and they do check ups to make sure everything is okay. I highly recommend this hospital for anyone who is looking for cost efficient and high quality care for their pets. I couldn’t be happier!

Dr. M and his team were very attentive and caring when we brought our cat in. Our poor cat, Finnigan, had to stay in the hospital and Dr. M called to update us on his progress each evening. After extensive tests and treatment we took our cat home. A follow up call was made the next day asking on our cat’s health. So grateful for the marvellous care, follow up and great team. I definitely recommend Truscott Animal Hospital, Dr. M and his team.
