What we offer for your pet
Pet Wellness
Annual Pet Wellness
Ongoing wellness care is important for every pet, helping to ensure that their lives are as long, healthy, and happy as possible. At Truscott Animal Hospital, we recommend that all of our patients come in for complete physical examinations at least once a year. Because our pets age faster than we do, regular checkups are important to ensure that potential health problems are identified and treated early.
What to Expect During a Wellness Exam
Your pet’s wellness exam is a great opportunity for our team to establish a relationship with you and your pet. We want to hear what you have to say about the observations you’ve made about your pet since their last visit. The information you provide is valuable and will help us make a more well-rounded assessment of your pet’s circumstances and needs.

Pet vaccinations
Keep Pet Vaccinations Up-to-Date
Vaccines are an important part of maintaining your pet’s good health. If you want to protect your pet from contagious viruses and diseases, it’s essential to keep their vaccines current. This is vital even if your cat or dog is mainly an indoor pet. It’s important to also keep in mind that the likelihood of your pet’s exposure to disease increases if you take them to areas where they’ll interact with other pets. These include boarding kennels, grooming salons, daycare facilities, and dog parks. Make sure your pet has proper vaccination coverage before taking them to any of these places. Vaccinating your pet can go a long way toward protecting them from potentially fatal illnesses.
Core Vaccines for Dogs and Cats
Here at Truscott Animal Hospital, we recommend a series of core (essential) vaccines for your pet. We can customize a vaccination schedule to meet your pet’s specific needs during the wellness exams. Depending on your pet’s risk of exposure to certain viruses and diseases, we may recommend non-core vaccines as well, such as Bordetella and feline leukemia.

Pet Dental Care
Make Pet Dental Care Lifelong Care
We are your pet’s partner in their lifelong health, and dentistry is one of the most important aspects of overall health. At our animal hospital located in Mississauga, Ontario, pet dental care is a key aspect of veterinary treatment. When each pet comes in for a check-up, whether because they are ill or because they need a wellness exam, our veterinarians check the oral cavity for signs of illness. If issues are identified, our veterinary team may prescribe a professional dental cleaning. Screening for pathogenic bacteria is also available.
Quotes for this dental procedure fee can be given upon request.
At-Home Pet Dental Care
Pet dental health is so important for each pet’s lifelong, overall health. The team at Truscott Animal Hospital recommends ongoing, at-home pet dental care to preserve your pet’s oral well-being. We recommend Healthy Mouth dental health care products, which are used by veterinarians. These include toothpastes, but also products that are easier to use such as treats, oral gels, water additives, and more! We can help you choose and utilize the best products for your pet’s lifestyle and needs.

Veterinary Diets are exclusive to vet hospitals and come in two main categories preventative and treatment.
Preventative diets are for healthy pets , these diets go through strict quality control to ensure consistency and safety.
The use of natural preservatives and antioxidants and high quality ingredients make them an excellent choice for our pets.
The second group of diets is designed for pets with specific health concerns these may include conditions such as diabetes, urinary stones, liver disease, obesity, allergies, arthritis, skin conditions to dental disease.

The Science Behind Pet Food
Your pet’s diet is among the most important aspects of their lifelong care. At Truscott Animal Hospital, pet nutrition is part of the foundation of our ongoing veterinary services. We provide a diagnostic testing process called NutriScan testing, which uses a saliva sample to determine if your pet has any dietary intolerances.
